Reuse Whistler makes it simple to reduce waste, protect the environment, and make low-impact living easy — whether at home or on vacation.

FAQ’s

    • Cups can be returned to all coffee shops participating in the reusable initiative, or Smart Return bins in the village and up the mountain – more info HERE

    • To return, simply scan the QR code on the cup at a Smart Return Station or Smart Bin and deposit your cup.

    • In the future as we expand, we will be adding more return stations around Whistler.   

    • The reusable cups are free to borrow for up to 5 days. 

    • On the 6th day, if you have not returned your cup, you will be charged $22.40 per reusable.

    • If you return your cup within 30 days, you will receive a full refund, this will take 3-5 days to process. 

    • No app needed. Just tap your debit or credit card and you’re good to go. You can add your phone number if you want a reminder to return your cup, but it’s completely optional.

    • For repeat users - you can use the app or a browser account for quick check out.

  • All Reuse Whistler cups are professionally cleaned between uses in commercial-grade dishwashers that meet health and safety standards—just like the plates or glasses you use at a café or restaurant!

    • The best way to embrace reuse is through your daily choices. Bringing your own mug, food containers and bags will always be the most sustainable option. 

    • In Whistler you can also check out the Re-Use-It and Re-Build-It Centres for opportunities to donate items no longer needed and buy items ready for new homes - all while benefiting Whistler’s Community Services Society.

  • Yes! Whether you're here for a lifetime or just visiting, all are welcome to participate. Simply return your cup within 5 days to prevent being charged.

  • We’re tackling single-use packaging, starting with coffee cups and building momentum for broader change. This is just the beginning. Real change takes time, but we’re in it for the long haul.

  • We want our cups to stay in rotation so they can be reused again and again, supporting a circular economy.

    Most Whistler cafés have their own reusable cups with local branding, which you can buy if you’d like a cup with Whistler designs—but our Reuse Whistler cups are designed to keep circulating.
